In Paradark Studios’ debut title, you are an Exekiller, a bounty hunter from the future. From mixing these genres, Exekiller was born,” says Amadeusz Wróbel, CEO of Paradark Studio. “We are fans of westerns, postapo but also dark sci-fi, cyberpunk, and retro-futurism. ExeKiller is a Blade Runner 2049/Prey 2-inspired game, first details, screenshots & trailer AugJohn Papadopoulos 16 Comments ParaDark Studio has just announced a new first-person. But can't fault the attempt at something different.Only 30 percent of humanity has survived, and only a few places on Earth are habitable. Whether it works or not is another story. I'm just me, not fixed in some kind of levelling system. What I mean by that is that it becomes a bit formulaic and constantly reminds it's a game, often taking me out of the moment. Yeah the levelling systems can become a little gamey IMO. Something like that is what I've been hoping to see some bigger AAA RPG's try in future, throw out the leveling system and have your power/progression come from actually doing stuff, finding weapons/upgrades, earning them, buying them, whatever, with no arbitrary leveling system to gate it all. Rewards for quests and unique nds will enrich the player's arsenal, expanding his/her choice of weapons and available encounter tactics." Reading the Steam description this bit caught my eye: "Character progression - No XP or leveling up – all of the player's progression will come from his/her choice of mods, augments and tech implemented in weapons. I'm going to try support them if they do. Until then, I hope these indie developers can pull off their projects. I really wish they would make another title. Cyberpunk 2077 being undercooked, Deus Ex being put on hold means there is still a unfulfilled space for cyberpunk RPG's.ĭeus Ex is still the definitive cyberpunk game for me. I'm still craving that big cyberpunk RPG AAA experience. And I'm sure Microsoft and other publishers/developers are looking at acquiring new studios that can fill gaps that gamers want. Vigilance and ExeKiller are quite inspired looking projects. Whether a dev wants to stay independent or not there are some devs, I'm sure that would want the relative security and/or investment a publisher like Sony or Microsoft can offer. Netflix have just bought their first developer (Night School Studio, Oxenfree). I think there is incentive there for indie devs to be picked up by bigger publishers. I would love to see some developers make their name in the AA space and if a bigger publisher picks them up or the get AAA investment based on their first release in a series, it would be nice. Lots of movie references in the trailer - lines ripped right out of movies like Dirty Harry and references to The Godfather etc. Might not be a great game at all but it looks nice. So, probably not going to be released for a long time. Your decisions affect the storyline that offers massive replayability. Your choices affect not only the way the story develops - it also lets you face every situation any way you like. How you approach The Exekiller is up to you.
